Have you ever wondered why we never see some cartoon characters’ face? – well the real reason behind this has recently been revealed.

Given that so many of these cartoons were focused on animals or kids, they’re also often presented from an animal’s or kid’s perspective. Meaning, if they were to look straight ahead, they’d only see the lower half of the adult, rather than their face.

Famous cartoons like The Powerpuff Girls, Cow and Chicken, and Tom and Jerry, are especially known for cartoon characters with hidden faces.

Another reason for this is that the characters didn’t always appear frequently, thus there wasn’t often a need for the cartoonists to design full looks for them only to be used once or twice.
