As part of Malta Pride 2026, audiences are invited to come together for an evening of cinema, conversation and community at Queer Cinema Night 🎥
The event will feature a screening of Breaking Fast, the award-winning romantic comedy-drama directed by Mike Mosallam, followed by a Q&A exploring queer Arab and Muslim identities.
Breaking Fast follows Mo, a practising Muslim living in Los Angeles who finds himself navigating the complexities of his faith, family expectations and search for love.
During Ramadan, Mo unexpectedly meets Kal, and as their connection begins to grow, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery, acceptance and authenticity.
Blending humour, heart and cultural nuance, Breaking Fast offers an uplifting portrayal of queer Muslim experiences and brings perspectives rarely represented on screen into the spotlight.
Following the screening, attendees will be invited to stay for an engaging Q&A discussion centred on queer Arab and Muslim identities.
The conversation will provide an opportunity to reflect on the themes explored throughout the film, including the intersections of culture, faith, sexuality and belonging, while creating space for meaningful dialogue and shared experiences.
