Hong Kong firefighters are tackling a massive fire at a high-rise skyscraper under construction in the Kowloon region.

 

 

The fire began at the top of the 42-story tower, which was nearing completion, and spread to the scaffolding.

 

Officials said the fire broke out at 11:11pm on Thursday.

 

Over 130 people living in three adjoining buildings were evacuated early Friday on fears that the fire might spread.

 

 

The structure’s several stories, including the scaffolding, were on fire, and flaming debris drifted in the air.

 

No casualties were reported from the incident but six adjacent buildings also caught fire but were extinguished.

 

 

Onlookers gathered in Tsim Sha Tsui’s waterfront area to witness the sight, which resembles a scene straight out of a movie.
