Haley Bugeja Scores Goal Securing Win Over Moldova

Congrats to our national women’s team! 🤩

Malta secured their second UEFA Women’s Nations League victory with a 2-0 win over Moldova at Centenary Stadium. The game saw action in the second half when Inter’s attacker, Haley Bugeja, scored a personal brace.

The first noteworthy moment came in the 32nd minute when Nicole Sciberras unleashed a powerful shot that narrowly missed the target.

Three minutes later, Haley Bugeja entered the penalty area, and her shot found the back of the net, courtesy of a deflection from Bojenco.

Bojenco remained active between the Moldovan posts, saving another shot from Bugeja after a cross from the left.

In the 41st minute, a defensive error by Maltese goalkeeper Janice Xuereb almost led to a goal, but Tabor’s attempt was blocked by the defense.

The first half ended goalless.

Malta took the lead in the 46th minute when Haley Bugeja received a well-timed pass from Brenda Borg and calmly slotted the ball past the Inter player, Denisa Bojenco.

Moldova appeared confused and wasn’t surprised when they conceded the second goal following a defensive mistake, with Haley Bugeja capitalizing on a loose ball in the penalty area.

With this victory, Malta sits atop the league standings with three points ahead of Latvia and Andorra, both of whom have three points as well.
