Biden Approves Start Of Willow Project In Alaska

The Willow Project has officially been approved.

 

 

 

The approval of the Willow oil drilling project in Alaska by the Biden administration has caused frustration among climate advocates and is likely to lead to legal action.

The project, which has been in the works for decades, involves drilling for oil in the National Petroleum Reserve, a federally owned area with an estimated 600 million barrels of oil.

However, it will take several years for the oil to reach the market as the project has not yet been constructed.

The administration’s own estimates indicate that the project will generate 9.2 million metric tons of carbon pollution annually, which is equivalent to the emissions produced by 2 million gas-powered cars on the roads.
