On the historic date of February 6th, 1977, Gozo witnessed the inaugural ‘Run Gozo’ Marathon, a pioneering event on the Maltese islands. Inspired by experiences in Rome, Fr. Anton Refalo conceived this race to celebrate athleticism and community spirit.

 

 

Starting from the Citadel’s ancient walls, runners traverse Gozo’s iconic landmarks, including the majestic Aqueducts and serene Salt Pans. Culminating at Ta’ Pinu Church, the race embodies Gozo’s rich heritage and spiritual essence.
