Attention all road users! On Sunday, March 24th, the annual La Vallette Marathon is set to sweep through Malta, and with it comes a series of road closures to ensure the safety of participants and smooth running of the event.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Manikata: Triq San Pawl il-Baħar Manikata will be closed in both directions from 5:00 AM to 8:00 AM.
- San Pawl il-Baħar: Avoid Triq il-Gżejjer Maltin and Triq it-Trunċiera in San Pawl il-Baħar & Qawra from 6:30 AM until 8:30 AM.
- Coast Road: One lane on Triq Il-Kosta Salina will be closed from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM.
- San Ġiljan: Watch out for marathon runners along Triq Dragonara & Triq San Ġorġ from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM.
- Sliema: Tower Road from Love sign Spinola to The Point will be closed from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Triq Ix-Xatt Sliema will be closed from Giorgio’s to Alliance Tigne, with traffic diverted to the bus lane until 11:00 AM.
- Ta’ Xbiex and Msida: Triq ix-Xatt Ta Xbiex, and Triq ix-Xatt Msida will have one lane allocated to runners until 12:00 PM.
- Pietà: Runners will be using the inner lane along Triq L-Indipendenza Pieta and Triq St Anna Floriana until 12:00 PM.
- Valletta: Barrier Wharf and Triq L-Assedju il Kbir will be closed from Crucifix Wharf towards Valletta Triton Fountains until 12:00 PM.
- Floriana: Drive slowly along Triq il-Vittmi Furjanizi and Triq L-Ghereb and Triq il-Moll iċ-Ċangatura towards Marsaż, until 12:30 PM.
- Marsa: Drive slowly along roads Belt il-Hazna & Xatt il-Mollijiet until 1:00 PM.
- Paola: Triq Dom Mintoff in Corradino Paola southbound shall be closed until 10:00 AM, then one lane will be allocated for runners until 1:00 PM. Also, participants will be running along Labour Road & Vjal Sir Paul Boffa until 1:00 PM.
- Ghajn Dwieli: Drive slowly along Triq Ghajn Dwieli direction southbound as the inner lane shall have runners until 1:00 PM.
- Cottonera: Triq Is-Sur & Xatt Juan B. Azzoppardo along Senglea Waterfront shall be closed from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Birgu Waterfront shall be closed for vehicles until 5:00 PM.
