When asked if she pursued the role, Ortega responded in the negative, citing her exhaustion with TV work and her desire to focus on film.

Ortega also expressed that earning one’s place in Hollywood is no easy feat, but she ultimately reconsidered the role after learning that Tim Burton would be the director.

According to Ortega, her affinity for Burton and their easy rapport convinced her to take on the role.
