Florida legislature approves death penalty for child sexual abusers 😮

 
A recent bill endorsed by Florida lawmakers grants the state the authority to impose capital punishment on individuals convicted of sexually abusing minors. This amendment, championed by Governor Ron DeSantis, received bipartisan support and passed with a vote of 34-5 on Tuesday evening, and is expected to be signed by DeSantis imminently.
 
The bill targets those who commit sexual abuse against children under the age of 12, with DeSantis asserting that “the death penalty is the only appropriate punishment when you have situations like that.”
 
According to State Senate Minority Leader Lauren Book, “Once a predator has a child ensnared, they will harm that child over and over and over again and then move on to another innocent child.”
