Good news for all females! 💖

In celebration of International Women’s Day, yesterday, a group of companies in Malta known as WFDM Holdings has implemented menstrual leave for all its female employees.

The new policy will provide paid leave for up to twelve days each year for women who experience “painful and difficult” periods that impact their ability to perform at work. This additional leave will not detract from their sick or vacation time and will give them the opportunity to prioritize their menstrual health without affecting their work performance.

WFDM Holdings acknowledges menstruation as a natural and normal part of life, and introducing menstrual leave sends a message of support and concern for the overall wellbeing of their female employees.

This is just one of the many initiatives that WFDM is undertaking to maintain an inclusive and supportive work environment for women. In February, Spain became the first EU country to introduce period pain leave, setting a precedent for other countries to follow.
