‘Barbie’s’ storyline is heartwarming, as it challenges the “stereotypical Barbie” image, allowing her to explore what it truly means to be a real woman. However, this growth comes at the cost of leaving her long-term boyfriend behind, and the film doesn’t feature any romantic kiss between the two characters.

While it is empowering to see Barbie in control of her own destiny, some fans and even Margot Robbie herself expressed disappointment over the lack of a romantic element in the story. Robbie revealed in an interview with People that the absence of a kiss between Barbie and Ken “didn’t feel like a win” for her.

Nevertheless, despite the reduced romance, the film broke box office records, becoming the highest-grossing opening weekend for a movie directed by a woman.

According to reports, the film has already raked in a remarkable $155 million at the box office, surpassing the earnings of the movie Oppenheimer, which only made $93.7 million in comparison.
