Renowned actor Sir Michael Gambon has passed away at the age of 82 while in hospital, as confirmed by his family.

Sir Michael is most prominently recognized for assuming the role of Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter film series from 2004 to 2011, succeeding the late Richard Harris.

In a statement released on behalf of his wife, Lady Gambon, and son, Fergus Gambon, and conveyed through their publicist Clair Dobbs, it was expressed: “We regretfully announce the passing of Sir Michael Gambon.

“Michael, a beloved husband and father, peacefully left us in the hospital, with his wife Anne and son Fergus by his side, after battling pneumonia. He was 82.

“We kindly request that you respect our privacy during this challenging time and express our gratitude for the support and affectionate messages we have received.”
