Women Are Officially Binge Drinking More Than Men

Study finds that women are binge drinking more than men for the first time ever!

Dr. George Koob, who heads the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, has noted an increase in binge drinking among college students, especially women, which he attributes to the “alcohol deprivation effect” during the pandemic.

Despite being uncertain about the reason why women have been affected more than men, he raised concerns about the negative health consequences of alcohol during an interview with the Washington Examiner.

The trend coincides with the emergence of the “blackout rage gallon” craze, in which young people mix water, electrolytes, and vodka before consuming the concoction from gallon jugs.

Dr. Koob warned that binge drinking may increase this spring and during spring break.
