The Weeknd, a Canadian pop singer, now goes by his birth name, Abel Tesfaye, on social media.

This name change follows the award-winning musician’s declaration to W Magazine that he intended to “kill The Weeknd” and that he was “getting ready to close The Weeknd chapter”

The Weeknd first acquired the moniker after dropping out of school and stealing his mattress, “leaving 1 weekend & never coming home.”
