Get ready for some dino action in Malta! 🦕

The next Jurassic World film is starting production this summer, with Scarlett Johansson taking the lead role. Filming will run from July to September, using nearly all the space at the Malta Film Studios in Kalkara. The latest installment in the Jurassic franchise will only be partly shot in Malta, continuing the legacy of previous movies, like the 2022 film Dominion, which also filmed in Malta.

That movie had scenes of dinosaurs racing through the streets of Valletta, Vittoriosa, Mellieħa, and Pembroke.

The new film is expected to hit theaters in July 2025. Scarlett Johansson, known for her roles in Lost in Translation and as Black Widow in Marvel films, will star in the movie. Malta has become a hot spot for blockbuster films thanks to a generous government rebate of 40% on production expenses.

The Malta Film Studios is also equipped with two massive water tanks perfect for large-scale sound effects and underwater scenes.
