Man Stays in 5 Star Hotel For Free For 600 Days

In a startling case that has captured attention, a man in India is believed to have successfully extended his stay at a prestigious five-star hotel in Delhi for nearly two years without settling the bill. The shocking revelation came to light when managers at Roseate House, located near Delhi airport, discovered the alleged scam after 603 days.
 
The man reportedly owes the hotel a staggering amount of over 5 million rupees ($70,000; £55,000). The complaint suggests that he colluded with hotel staff who assisted in concealing the mounting bills. Despite the serious allegations, no arrests have been made at this stage.
 
The incident was reported to Delhi police on 24th May, but details have only recently emerged in the local media. According to reports from the Indian Express newspaper, the unnamed man checked into the hotel on 30th May 2019, originally booking a room for a single night. However, he continued to stay without making any payments. It is alleged that one of the staff members facilitated his extended stay, possibly by manipulating other guests’ bills or making unauthorized swaps.
 
Hotel rules stipulate that if a guest owes more than 50,000 rupees, the staff must inform the senior management and urge the guest to settle the outstanding amount. However, in this case, that protocol was allegedly not followed.
