Well done to our Civil Protection Department heroes!

After their mission in Greece, the brave firefighters from Malta, who are part of the Civil Protection Department (CPD), have returned home safely. They were sent to Greece to combat the devastating wildfires that ravaged various locations due to intense heat. Heartwarming pictures have been shared on CPD’s Facebook page, capturing the emotional reunions with their families at Malta’s airport.

In 2023, Greece experienced a staggering 5,200 fires, resulting in the destruction of over 1,250 hectares of countryside. The Maltese firefighters were deployed using a proactive approach called “pre-positioning,” ensuring their presence on the scene to swiftly respond to fires as they erupted.
