If you’re someone who loves taking selfies when you travel, then Portofino, may not be the ideal place for you.

This town has imposed a rule in certain areas where you can’t stop to take pictures and prevent other tourists from admiring the beauty the place offers.

If caught in these zones, you may face a fine of up to €275. This decision was made due to the fact that these areas have become overcrowded with many people, some of whom take a long time to take selfies.

The Mayor of Portofino, Matteo Viacava, stated that this rule is being implemented to control the chaos caused by tourists stopping to take pictures, which is causing a lot of traffic. This rule came into effect during the Easter week and will remain in effect until October.

This rule will be enforced from 6pm onwards.
