Health Ministry Issues Heat Warning To Stay Indoors

Be careful out there!

The Health Authorities are urging the public to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the adverse effects of heat and to promptly seek medical attention if they experience signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion.

Additionally, it is highly recommended to regularly check on the elderly and those who are more vulnerable, especially if they live alone.

To avoid the negative impacts of heat waves, it is crucial to follow these guidelines:

  1. Limit exposure to the sun during the hottest periods of the day, typically between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.
  2. Stay in the coolest areas of your home or workplace to keep cool.
  3. Close curtains in rooms facing the sun to maintain cooler indoor spaces.
  4. Stay hydrated by drinking water regularly and consume more cold food.
  5. Avoid dehydrating beverages like alcohol, coffee, tea, and caffeinated soft drinks.
  6. Wear loose-fitting and light clothing.
  7. Never leave anyone, especially infants, young children, or animals, in a closed, parked vehicle.
  8. Avoid physical exertion during the hottest parts of the day.
  9. When going outside in the heat, walk in the shade, apply sunscreen, and wear a hat.
