The CEO of Tesla and the individual behind X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, used his social media platform to extend a generous offer to the online encyclopedia. Musk offered to donate one billion dollars to Wikipedia in exchange for a name change to “Dickipedia.”

He stated, “I’ll contribute a billion dollars if they agree to rebrand as Dickipedia,” adding, “Please include that alongside the [cow and poop emojis] on my wiki page for the sake of accuracy.” This isn’t the first instance of friction between Musk and Wikipedia.

In May, Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales criticized Musk for his decision to limit specific content on X in the run-up to Turkey’s presidential election, as reported by Business Insider. The publication also noted that under Musk’s leadership, the social media platform had seemingly become more cooperative with government requests for censorship and surveillance.
