Movie” and all Marvel movies this year, but also secured the title of the biggest opening of the year. Moreover, it set a new record for the highest-grossing opening weekend for a film directed by a woman.
 
Universal’s “Oppenheimer” also exceeded expectations, bringing in $80.5 million from 3,610 theaters in the U.S. and Canada. This marked Christopher Nolan’s most successful non-Batman debut and one of the strongest starts for an R-rated biographical drama.
 
An extraordinary occurrence unfolded as both movies debuted to remarkable numbers, with “Barbie” crossing $100 million and “Oppenheimer” surpassing $80 million in the same weekend.
