Katy Perry Gets Emotional During Shooting Survivor’s Audition

During Sunday’s episode of ‘American Idol’, Katy Perry became emotional upon hearing contestant Trey Louis’ story of why he was fighting to give his hometown of Santa Fe, TX a better reputation.

Trey recounted his experience as a part of the Sante Fe school shooting in 2018, where he hid in an art room as 10 people were killed.

He explained that his hometown had received negative attention since the incident, and Katy was moved to tears by his story.

She expressed her support for Trey, stating that he should be singing because he loves music, not because of the trauma he experienced.
