Social media influencers are beating journalists

Traditional news outlets have long been the go-to for generations seeking information about global events. However, a recent report from the Reuters Institute indicates a shift in this pattern.
The study highlights the influential role of social media personalities among young users. Surprisingly, 55 percent of TikTok and Snapchat users rely on these “personalities” for news, closely followed by Instagram at 52 percent.
In contrast, only 33-42 percent of social media users turn to mainstream media and journalists for updates on current affairs. This trend underscores the growing influence of influencers as primary news sources for the younger demographic.
