Half Of Maltese Youth Prefer To Be Self Employed

According to a recent survey by Eurobarometer, nearly 50% of young individuals aged 15-30 in Malta expressed a preference for self-employment over traditional employment, surpassing the average of 39% across the European Union.

The primary reason cited for this preference was the desire for flexibility in choosing when and where to work.

In Malta, the major obstacle identified for youth entrepreneurship was perceived financial risks, and a significant 85% of respondents believed that businesses should have defined social objectives.

Interestingly, young people in Malta and Portugal were found to be most inclined towards valuing participatory decision-making by employers.
