104-Year-Old Woman Is Now Oldest Person To Skydive

You’re never too old to face your fears!

In northern Illinois on Sunday, a centenarian from Chicago made history by becoming the oldest person ever to engage in skydiving, leaping from an aircraft at an altitude of 13,500 feet.

Dorothy Hoffner, at the age of 104, is poised to shatter the existing Guinness World Record for the oldest skydiver once her jump is officially certified. Currently, the record is held by 103-year-old Linnéa Ingegärd Larsson.

Addressing a jubilant crowd upon safely touching down at Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, approximately 85 miles southwest of Chicago, Hoffner shared, “Age is just a number.” She embarked on her first skydiving adventure four years ago, shortly after turning 100, simply because it piqued her curiosity. She revealed that her friend Joe Conant, 62, had joined her in both her initial jump and the recent one on Sunday.

Reflecting on the experience, she exclaimed, ‘The whole thing was delightful, wonderful, couldn’t have been better,’
