Zayn Malik Calls Out The Grammy Awards For Favouritism & Racism

Singer Zayn Malik took to Twitter to slam the Grammy Awards, which are set to air on March 14th, criticising the nomination process for fostering favouritism and racism.

The solo artist and former One Direction star expressed his frustration with the Recording Academy in a set of two Tweets, ‘Fuck the grammys and everyone associated’.

He added, ‘Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there’s no nomination considerations. Next year I’ll send you a basket of confectionary.’

Meanwhile, users were quick to assume that Malik’s tweet was a personal dig against Harry Styles, who received three Grammy nods this year, whilst others wondered if he was upset that his latest album was ineligible for nomination, since it was released three months after the consideration window closed.

In a follow-up post, he clarified, ‘My tweet was not personal or about eligibility but was about the need for inclusion and the lack of transparency of the nomination process’. adding that the Grammys allows ‘favouritism and racism’ alongside politics, to influence the voting process.

This comes shortly after The Weeknd criticised the Grammys for being ‘corrupt’.
