Kazuki Takahashi, creator of Yu-Gi-Oh!, has died at the age of 60.

Reports claim a body was found off the coast at Nago City in Okinawa. Japanese Coast Guard authorities later announced that the body was indeed that of Takahashi.

His body was found floating in shallow waters, still in his snorkelling gear. The police are currently investigating the case.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is by far Takahashi’s most famous creation, which premiered in 1996 and helped start his career. Prior to then, he had achieved some success with a manga adaptation of the sports anime Go-Q-Choji Ikkiman from 1986, and finally got his first original work, Tokio no Taka, published in 1990.
