Young Maltese Female Footballer Signs With Belgian First Division Team

MFA Women’s Football announced earlier this week that one of their stars, Ylenia Carabott has officially signed with Belgian First Division team, the Royal Charleroi Sporting Club, and we’ll be seeing her play on their field for the 2020/2021 season.

This won’t be the first time Carabott has played with a foreign team. Last season, she was in Italy with Chievo Fortitudo Women.

During her time in Malta with Hibernians, she won the top scorer award for 9 times, 8 consecutive seasons, affirming herself as a top striker in Maltese football.

She also finished runner up in the best player award in 3 seasons and was also nominated for the Malta Sports Woman of the year where she finished with the top 5.

Carabott will be the second Maltese woman player to feature in Belgium 🇧🇪 after Rachel Cuschieri’s one year stint at Anderlecht.
