As of Monday, those who are fully vaccinated in any EU member state or the US may travel to England without going into quarantine upon arrival – so long as it’s from a country that is on the Amber list.
The Government said that this change in the rules will help families and friends re-unite more easily with their loved ones who live abroad.
Meanwhile, the British Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dominic Raab warned that at the current vaccination rate, the world’s population will not be fully vaccinated against coronavirus before 2024. He appealed to other countries to join forces with the UK in donating vaccines to poor countries.
Minister Raab also expressed his belief that the UK has the moral obligation to promote such efforts for the most impoverished, vulnerable countries to have access to the doses required to vaccinate their populations.
