Wayne Couzens Sentenced To Life In Prison For The Murder Of Sarah Everard

Wayne Couzens was sentenced to life in prison for the kidnapping, rape, and murder of Sarah Everard.

On March 3, 2021, the ex-Metropolitan police officer used his police powers and knowledge to lure the 33-year-old off a south London street.

He then burnt her corpse in an attempt to cover up his crimes, which the Everard family claims deprived them of the opportunity to view their deceased loved one one more time and say a proper goodbye.

According to the judge, Couzens received a life sentence because he used his position as a police officer to accomplish his crimes. He stated that the case was “devastating, tragic and wholly brutal”.

“You’ve betrayed your family and there’s no evidence of genuine contrition,” he told Couzens.

Couzens kept his head down as he was told he will spend the rest of his life in jail, shaking as he was sentenced.

The Police officers who investigated the crime hugged the Everard family after Couzens was convicted. However, her parents and sister stated yesterday that all they want is Sarah back, and no penalty will ever be as severe as the anguish and torture imposed on them by Couzens.
