Last month, Ingrid Michaelson and Zayn dropped a surprise duet, To Begin Again, in which the two sing about a reboot following a near-apocalypse inspired by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
And now, the pair followed up their track with an accompanying music video for their collab, ‘I wanted to create a love letter to my city. To celebrate the hope that is slowly coming back to the people of New York. And to remind people all over the world that we are stronger when we work and rejoice together’, Michaelson explained.
Meanwhile, the song and visual see a snapshot of the moment most of the world is going through right now, as the vaccine brings the promise of rebirth after an incredibly tough year.

To Begin Again is described as a one-off collab from Michaelson, who is currently working on the music and lyrics for the upcoming Broadway adaption of The Notebook. In a statement, Michaelson revealed, ‘I wrote ‘To Begin Again’ the night that Biden won’.
‘The collective sigh of relief resonated with me in such a way that I had to get it out musically. I sat at the piano and wrote most of the song right there in 15 minutes’, she added.

‘I love ZAYN’s voice, especially when he goes high and sweet and sad. It was the perfect fit. The song is a song of hope and of release. Of beginning again…’
