WATCH: Will Smith Takes Us All On the Biggest Nostalgic Trip Ever

Calling all 90s Kids out there! There is surely no denying that a major chunk of our upbringing featured us, in front of a television, rapping along to a theme tune, which, we all still remember by heart!

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was an American sitcom television series created by Andy and Susan Borowitz that originally aired on NBC from September 10, 1990, to May 20, 1996.

The series starred Will Smith as a fictionalized version of himself, a street-smart teenager born and raised in West Philadelphia who is sent to move in with his wealthy uncle and aunt in their Bel Air mansion after getting into a fight in the local playground in his neighborhood. However, his lifestyle often clashes with the lifestyle of his upper-class relatives. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air ran for 148 episodes over six seasons.

Cut to 2020! HBOmax recently aired a reunion special with the original cast of the show, which, even judging by the trailer was quite an emotional ordeal for people like Will Smith, who said that “These are the people who made me the man I am today.”

The cast — minus their television patriarch James Avery, who died of complications from open-heart surgery in 2013 — came together in honour of the 30th anniversary of the hit comedy show. No spoilers here, but the main take away is that the cast truly became a family. And like most families, there was some occasional tension.

In an epic climactic moment from the Fresh Prince Reunion Special event on HBO Max, original Aunt Viv Janet Hubert-Whitten and her replacement Daphne Maxwell Reid met for the first time ever and openly embraced one other, along with Smith.

The moment transcended simple fan nostalgia (which the Fresh Prince Reunion delivered on in full), it was a healing experience for those involved with the show – and some long-awaited resolution to the deep grievance within the fan base of the show, and the larger black community – and Will Smith took to his social for some transitional fun, which has us all smiling!
