Recent sightings of Sacha Baron Cohen had already set off a rumour-chain about how a sequel to 2006 movie Borat might be in the works. Well, it looks as though not only were those rumours true, but the movie has already been completed.
Multiple sources said that the sequel finds Borat under the somewhat-mistaken impression that he has become a successful movie star, given his newfound fame in the wake of the first film.
The Kazakh journalist goes around this this by trying to disguise himself from the public, even going so far as to conduct interviews incognito, with many suggesting that the movie will be ‘Cohen playing Borat playing Cohen’.
Last Month, Sacha Baron Cohen was spotted filming, in full Borat Gear in LA’s Long Beach. In the TikTok video, appeared to show the actor and comedian wearing a grey–coloured suit and sporting his instantly recognisable moustache while in a yellow pick-up truck in Long Beach. In front of the pick-up was a van containing a film crew.
The original Borat movie saw Cohen picking up the role of the titular fictional journalist, a character originally developed for TV series Da Ali G Show.
Much of the movie saw Borat interviewing real-life Americans, who believed he was a foreigner with a slim understanding of US culture and customs, with invariably hilarious results.
Previously, SBC had resurrected Borat in 2018, when the characted appeared in an Instagram Post, holding an ID Card, which did not belong to him, after Borat voted in the Mid-term Elections.
And that’s not all – he was reportedly spotted in character at a right-wing rally held in Washington in June, prompting fans to believe he might be making a second season of Who Is America.
No details, or teaser trailers have been issued so we just have to wait and see on this one.
