An upcoming film will follow the story of the first openly gay presidential candidate – who also happens to be Maltese-American – on the trail with his husband, Chasten Buttigieg!
Before becoming a presidential candidate, Buttigieg served as an officer in the US Navy Reserves. He was also a Mayor of South Bend and is now a loving husband, father, democratic presidential candidate, and Secretary of Transposition.
The documentary, titled Mayor Pete, offers an inspiring glimpse into Buttigieg’s run for the presidency; his marriage; and how the couple handled messaging around the candidate’s sexuality on the 2020 trail. In one of the scenes, Buttigieg remarks: ‘This is the only chance you’ll ever get to vote for a Maltese American, left-handed, Episcopalian, gay, war veteran, mayor, millennial’.
Directed by Jesse Moss, the movie follows ‘the earliest days of the campaign, to his unlikely, triumphant victory in Iowa and beyond,’… ‘This film reveals what really goes on inside a campaign for the highest office in the land — and the myriad ways it changes the lives of those at its center.’, a statement revealed.
Before becoming the first openly gay member to serve in any administration in a cabinet-level position, Sec. Buttigieg hoped to take the White House. Though he managed to beat out his current boss, President Joe Biden, in the Iowa Caucuses, Buttigieg later dropped out, endorsed Biden, and gave a speech.
Outside of work-life, Buttigieg married Chasten back in 2018, and just this year, they welcomed twins Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg.
Mayor Pete will make its debut on November 12!
