The local music scene will have a relatively new face and voice to look out for and his name is Luke Cieca.
Luke was born into a theatrical family and music has always been a major part of his life from a very young age. His dad introduced him to his 70’s rock music collection which included a mixture from Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Eric Clapton to name a few.
His love for music led him to play drums, be in a band, and eventually heading to Edinburgh to get a degree in performance all whilst testing the waters with different genres by playing in bars around the city.
Luke told Bay that ‘’The moment I learnt my first 4 chords on a guitar I wanted to write a song. I thought, what’s the use of playing an instrument if you don’t make your own music? So I started writing, and as I kept on learning, I kept on writing. I never really stopped. I didn’t want to just play songs that people knew, but songs that I wrote and actually meant something to me’’

You might recognise Luke’s father from a Theatre stage here and there….
‘’After working on my writing for years and years and never showing them to anyone, I decided to take a leap of faith and do something with my music. It’s like having a diary with loads of pages of stories and feelings that have been gathering for the past 10 years. Daunting, but never the less something I had dreamt of when I was a little kid listening to that Led Zepplin track, that I one day, would release my own music and that hopefully people can vibe to and relate to too ‘’
Today Luke Cieca released his debut single ‘A Place We Were Good’ which sets the tone for what kind of sound and material we can expect from Luke.
Tune in Mondays at 9:30pm to see if Luke will enter Malta’s Top 10 with Jake!
