Warning: Might Include Language That’s Offensive to Reader
It looks like Netflix will be starting off the new year with a bang, following its trailer release for its upcoming show about the origins of some of the English language’s most used swear words. And the best part? Nicolas Cage will be the host.
Sounds kind of brilliant, doesn’t it? History of Swear Words is the new comedy series that will delve into some of the most offensive words, exploring their origins, usage, and overall cultural impact.
Alongside host Cage, there will be a handful of comedy talent, including Jim Jefferies, Sarah Silverman, DeRay Davis, Open Mike Eagle, and Baron Vaughn. Experts will include linguist Charity Hudley, cognitive scientist Benjamin Bergen, and professor of feminist studies, Mireille Miller-Young.

The official synopsis on Netflix reads, “An education in expletives: the history lesson you didn’t know you needed. History of Swear Words, hosted by Nicolas Cage, is a loud and proudly profane series that explores the origins, pop culture-usage, science and cultural impact of curse words.”
The comedy series will consist of 6 episodes and will be hitting Netflix on January 5th, 2021. Needles to say, this is just the kind of quality content that 2021 needs.
