President of Malta George Vella and his wife had the pleasure of meeting her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II earlier this week, as they visited Buckingham palace.
It appears that the Queen has shown interest in the developments that Malta is currently undergoing and spoke fondly of the memories she has when she spent some time in Malta herself.
The President of Malta, George Vella and Mrs. Miriam Vella meet The Queen at Buckingham Palace.Her Majesty last visited Malta in 2015 to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting. She also has a personal connection with the country: she and The Duke of Edinburgh lived in Malta early in their marriage when His Royal Highness was serving as a Royal Navy officer from 1949 to 1951.

The President and his wife are currently in London on a four day official visit.
This is not the President’s first time meeting a royal. He had also met the Prince of Wales a while back to discuss the Commonwealth.
