Malta has signed a massive tourism deal with Manchester United.
From today, Malta is the ‘official global destination partner’ of the English Premier League giants.
The three-year agreement will see Malta featured on the club’s website, magazine issues, television station and mobile app
Billboards and signs promoting the Maltese Islands will also be displayed at Old Trafford on match days.
Tourism minister Konrad Mizzi said the historic agreement would help advertise Malta to club’s 1.1 billion fans worldwide.
He said: ‘We felt that we should partner with the best in the world, and that is why we picked Manchester United, a brand which reaches more than one billion people worldwide.
‘This agreement will help us in penetrating new markets, including America, South Korea, Japan and China.’
The partnership will also see first-term players and club legends making regular visits to Malta to help promote the island on social media.
Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata said: ‘It’s a great partnership between our huge fan base worldwide and our old fan base in Malta.’
The Malta Tourism Authority will also feature the Manchester United logo in its brochures and website.
