WATCH: Luke Vella Opens Up About His Experience Working On ‘Mix Up in the Mediterranean’ & More

In our latest BayChats, we sat down with Luke Vella, who recently had a big break on Hallmark’s ‘Mix-Up in the Mediterranean’, and he shared a little bit about his experience, how the pandemic affected his studies in the UK, and his prospects in the performing arts…

As from where it all began, Luke shared that his dream to become a performer started from watching movies and music videos and explained that he and his mum have been listening to music together ever since he was little.

Then at 7, he was interested in going on stage and would take the opportunity to do so in events such as summer school. He later had the opportunity to take part in a dance show and as the years went by, he added, ‘I started attending more and more dance classes, then I started attending singing classes’.

He went on, ‘as that was happening, the dream of making a career and studying about it was always at the back of my mind’. Luckily, his dance teacher had pushed Luke to auditions, ‘I took part in a workshop and they offered a week’s scholarship at LCPA and that week it just clicked, this is my calling’.

We then asked Luke about his latest experience in Mix Up in The Mediterranean, which was his first professional job, and revealed it was ‘an amazing experience’, especially since he was working alongside Broadway legend Jeremy Jordon, whom Luke has looked up to for years.

Luke clarified that, since Jordon was portraying a set of twins, Luke had to takeover whenever both had to be on screen, ‘I had to learn two totally different parts, two totally different characters, learn all the lines’, he explained.

Given the situation, the pandemic came in the way of certain things for Luke at LCPA last year, and going online made it even harder. However, he had just signed with an agent at the time, who has been working hard to get him auditions and jobs such as Mix Up in the Mediterranean, ‘it’s been hard, but there’s been brighter things too’, he added.

As for what’s in store for Luke’s future, he remained pretty tight-lipped on it all, but revealed that there will be a single coming our way soon, and it’s in collaboration with a popular, foreign producer! Hmm…

Luke then signed off with a message for aspiring performers, ‘Keep being inspired, keep looking at the people that inspire you and learning off of them. Go to the classes you want to take and get out of your comfort zone’… ‘just strive, do your best, work hard, and you’ll get the results you deserve.’
