Palmer, an upcoming drama that is set to premiere in early 2021, has just released an incredibly captivating first look at the movie, and it stars Justin Timberlake – alongside actors June Squibb and Juno Temple.
Directed by Succession actor Fisher Stevens, the film follows former high school football star Eddie Palmer, who returns to his hometown in Louisiana after his entire life changed upside down, following his 12 years in state prison. Fresh out of jail, he moves back in with his grandmother Vivian, who raised him, and lands a new job as a janitor.
Haunted by memories of his life before going to prison, things get more complicated for Palmer when his wild neighbour, Shelly, disappears on a bender, and he and Vivian are assigned with looking after her gender non-conforming 7-year-old son, Sam.
But as soon as the unlikely pair begin to bond, Sam’s mother shows up again – something which threatens not only Palmer’s relationship with Sam but also his newfound freedom, as he takes the young boy’s well-being into his own hands.
Alisha Wainwright from Shadowhunters will also appear in the movie as Sam’s sweet-natured teacher Maggie, with who Palmer strikes up a romance, while Ted Lasso’s Juno Temple, Godmothered actor June Squibb, and newcomer Ryder Allen also join the cast.
Palmer will be released on Apple TV+ on January 29th, 2021.
