A Hydro-Ambulance and a Rescue Jet Ski have been added to the fleet of the Gozo-Based Emergency Response and Rescue Corps. For the last 9 years, the ERRC has been providing professional lifeguard services in five beaches in Gozo and in 2 Comino Beaches.
Speaking at the launch of the new equipment, Tourism Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli said that during Summer 2019 the ERRC provided assistance to 6,823 people in cases that varied from minor injuries to instances where the person or persons had to be taken to the Gozo General Hospital for medical assistance.
The Minister also said that the Malta Tourism Authority will be allocating €350,000 to ensure that ERRC will continue providing excellent service in Gozo and Comino, where a patient is reached in the least amount of time possible.
The new Hydro-Ambulance and the Rescue Jet Ski will be used for incidents that happen along the coasts of Gozo and Comino while the Jet Ski will be used to that people can be assisted quickly.
