There’s no other artist quite as fierce as Tina Turner, who in the trailer for her upcoming HBO Documentary shares, ‘I started really seeing that I had to make a change. Divorce, I got nothing. No money, no house. So I said, I’ll just take my name.’
The trailer was released last Wednesday for Tina’s upcoming documentary, which follows the icon’s life and lengthy career. She shares, ‘Look what I have done in this lifetime with this body of a girl from a cotton field that proved myself above what was not taught to me’.
The trailer also hints at the ups and downs of the singer’s personal life, from her rocky childhood to her divorce and ultimate ‘comeback’. She opens up about her ‘abusive life’, adding that ‘There’s no other way to tell the story. Buddhism was a way out.’
The teaser also sees clips of her performances and interviews, as interviewees add in their opinions, ‘Her story reached so many people who felt like they had to keep their secrets locked away down,’ added one.
The documentary is directed by Dan Lindsay, T.J. Martin, and Lightbox and aims at offering a ‘revealing and intimate look at the life and career’ of Turner. Stars such as Angela Bassett and Oprah Winfrey are also expected to appear.
The only way to tell my story. I am excited to share the official trailer for #TinaFilm, a never before seen look into my life.
