Gozo’s international kite festival has been hailed as a ‘huge success’.
Hundreds of brightly coloured kites fluttered in the breeze over the Gozo countryside at the weekend as the island held its second International Kite and Wind Festival.
Gozo minister Justyne Caruana took to social media to praise all those who took part.
She wrote on Facebook: ‘Huge success at The International Kite and Wind Festival. Thank you all for joining us.
‘Thank you Gharb Local Council, it always a pleasure to work with you.
‘This event was fully supported and financed by the Ministry for Gozo.’
Professional kite masters from several countries took part, as did amateurs, displaying their stunning creations near the historic San Dimitri Chapel in Gharb.
Some kites were very creative, featuring cartoon characters, fish, bears and spaceships.
The festival, organised by Gharb Local Council, also attracted plenty of international media coverage, including mentions on Sky News, Chinese TV and Euronews.
