Emily Ratajkowski is expecting her first child with her husband Sebastian Bear-McClard! To celebrate this. the model also wrote an essay in which she reflects on her pregnancy saying that she will not reveal the gender of her child, before they are 18!
The announcement, published online by Vogue on Monday, is accompanied by a short film directed by Lena Dunham. “I dreamed of you for the first time the other night,” Ratajkowski said in the video. “We are waiting for you, wondering who you will be.”
On the baby’s gender, she wrote that when asked, “Do you know what you want?” she and her husband Sebastian Bear-McClard answer, “We won’t know the gender until our child is 18 and that they’ll let us know then.” The couple wants to be “progressive,” she said (he, too, has insisted that he “doesn’t have a preference” regarding the baby’s gender, Ratajkowski added).
Although having a baby is something experienced by a couple, she says that the pregnancy journey is single-handedly experienced by a woman saying things like “I am ultimately alone with my body in this experience. There is no one to feel it with me” and “My husband has no physical symptoms in ‘our’ pregnancy, another reminder of how different a woman and man’s experience of life can be.”
