After saving his son from catastrophic harm at a rodeo, a father in the United States has been dubbed ‘Father of the Year.’ Cody Hooks was riding his bull at the Bell County Expo Center in central Texas for the PRCA rodeo when he fell off.
The 18-year-old was barely seconds into his ride when he hit the deck, and according to KWTX, he was knocked out.
While bullfighters attempted to contain the bull in the ring, Cody’s unmoving body lay on the floor. Without thinking twice, Landis, the teen’s father, bravely went into the ring and flung himself on his son to protect him.
The bull returned seconds later and rammed at Cody and Landis, but the damage was thankfully softened by his father’s body.
