No plans this Sunday? No problem! Dolly Parton’s New Christmas movie, “Christmas on the Square” just dropped on Netflix! And with this weather, can you think of anything better than cuddling up with a mug of hot chocolate and watching some festive cheer? Didn’t think so…
As Dolly Parton takes on the role of an angel, she confronts a grinch-esque businesswoman who is determined to ruin Christmas. Oh, and the festive film is also a holiday musical!
Netflix released the movie alongside a description, “Seasonal cheer comes to a screeching halt when a cold-hearted woman tries to sell her hometown’s land. Can music, magic and memories change her mind?”.
Not only does Dolly bless us with her presence in this movie, but we soon learn that ‘there’s a new Scrooge in town’, and it’s played by none other than Mamma Mia’s Christine Baranski! Baranski plays a cruel businesswoman named Regina Fuller and causes chaos when she goes back home – selling her hometown’s land and evacuating all of the residents by Christmas Eve.
“Christmas on The Square” also features songs written by Dolly, and stars Jenifer Lewis, Treat Williams, Jeanine Mason, Josh Segarra, and Mary Lane Haskell as some of the townspeople and is directed by Grey’s Anatomy star Debbie Allen.
