Following last year’s successful launch of a new class of powerboat racing and after being awarded the title of World Championship by the UIM (Union Internationale Motonautique) last October, VOOMQUEST is organising the second V2 World Powerboat Championship, under the supervision of the UIM).
The 2019 Championship will see its first Grand Prix taking place between the 26th and 28th of April in St Paul’s Bay, Malta. The GP will include a combination of Official Testing, Super Pole Position Trials and 3 full Grand Prix races over a course of 3.1 Nautical Miles. To spice things up further, the VQ race course design will also include the introduction of a Penalty Lane.
VOOMQUEST founder and 5-time World Champion Mr Aaron Ciantar, stated: ‘In less than a year, this event was recognised as a World Championship and given international rights.’
‘This is the first Maltese organised Championship that holds an international title, having pilots from Malta, France, Belgium and Corsica.’
On his part, the Executive Chairman of Enemed, the main sponsor behind this event, Mr Kevin Chircop said: ‘Once again, we are very excited about this championship and look forward to having more teams competing in this world-class race.’
‘This will surely be another seal of approval for our fuels and their quality. epower petrol was specifically developed by Enemed for high performance, and what an opportunity better than a powerboat championship to showcase this.’
