On Sunday at the Cannes Film Festival, a protester sporting the colours of the Ukrainian flag was taken off the red carpet.

The woman stood in the middle of the carpet and poured what was thought to be fake blood from a capsule under her garment over herself in what appeared to be an anti-war demonstration.

Security intervened to remove the demonstrator, but not before photographers snapped pictures of the action.

The demonstration happened at the opening of French director Just Philippot’s movie Acide.

The protester’s motivation for choosing to target the Acide premiere is presently unknown.
