Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne announced that Malta will soon have two new COVID-19 swabbing centres in the coming days which will be focusing on rapid testing, bringing Malta’s total testing centres to 8.
One centre will be at Boffa Hospital in Floriana, while the other will be in the north of the island. Chris Fearne also said that Rapid Testing will be starting from today.
Chris Fearne said that the plan is for some 1,000 rapid tests to be carried out daily, with 20,000 kits arriving yesterday, and a further 50,000 arriving next week.
These tests will be first used for healthcare workers, those working with senior citizens and at the airport – with the service being eventually extended also to schools and primary healthcare.
