Twitter has revealed its daily user numbers for the first time.
The social network said it had 126 million users on board, at least once a day, in the final three months of 2018.
The figure was revealed as the company outlined its latest financial results showing strong revenue and profit growth.
However, monthly statistics showed a fall of five million users compared to the same period a year earlier.
The monthly figure disappointed investors as shares in the company fell 7% in pre-market trade.
Twitter’s daily active user numbers are dwarfed by other social media platforms like Snapchat and Facebook.
Facebook has around 1.2 billion daily users while Snapchat’s daily users are around 186 million.
Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey said: ‘Our long-term strategy is working.
‘Our efforts to improve health have delivered important results, and new product features like a single switch to move between latest and most relevant Tweets have been embraced by the people who use Twitter.
‘We enter this year confident that we will continue to deliver strong performance by focusing on making Twitter a healthier and more conversational service.’
